Reflections of our Worship Academy visit to Houston Texas in 2007 by Matthew Key
I always thought Texas weather was guaranteed. But how wrong was I? We made our first steps onto American soil to be greeted by very cold icy weather. Very British!
It was once prophesied over Chris Bowater (by Dale Gentry) that unusual weather systems would follow Chris as he ministered into many nations around the world. I was beginning to think that perhaps I should have travelled with somebody else when Chris shared this word with me. However I was sure God would bless us regardless of the weather systems, after all we were on the King’s business.
It was good to form new relationships with wonderful Texan friends. Chris and I had a really relaxed stay in Azle at the home of Paul and Perrianne Brownback who were really hospitable. “Guys your son’s are a credit to you. Thanks for your friendship. It was good to be in your home.”
Onwards to Houston from Dallas and yes you guessed it the weather followed us too…
My first impressions of the Church and staff that Worship Academy would be associated with were: professionalism, friendship, warmth and just in general a safe place to be.
Pastors Kerry & Faith are great, well respected people who are sold out for the vision of Worship Academy in the USA which was really encouraging to the UK team. Their staff are an asset to the Church at Houston. It’s a pleasure to have them on board as a team.
Intense training was given to the Worship Team based at Calvary Church Houston in the evenings, in addition to the numerous daytime planning meetings to prepare for the launch of the USA Academy.
The whole trip was very successful. New friendships were formed, training and encouragement was given to the local Church worship team and a full structure was put in place for a successful launch of the Academy in September.
Just in case you were wondering… Yes the sun did come out. On our departure! However, yes you’ve guessed it, when we arrived home we were greeted by very cold weather.
